More ideas for maximizing your drills in a limited space.

My Tip of The Week: Using All Your Gym Space
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gym space is very limited in our school, so we have to get very creative in our approach to drills.
One thing we do is to do our drills in "stations." That simply means that we have a number of areas set up where players practice certain skills in small groups, rather than having the entire team work on the skill at the same time. This is especially helpful early in the season, when we are working on individual skills and conditioning.
Set up an area where players are working on overhead passing, rope jumps, spiking approaches, and whatever other skills you may want to work on, in various areas around the gym. Then have the players perform whatever skill that station is set up to practice for a certain amount of time. At the end of that time, have everyone rotate to the next station and repeat the process.
It works well, and even allows coaches to isolate areas where certain players may need more help with greater ease.
This week, our link is to another great volleyball site, Scneid`s Volleyball Page, at www.volleyweb.com. You`ll find lots of volleyball-related information there, and I highly recommend it. When I first got on the web, it was one of the first quality sites I discovered, and I still go there from time to time to gain new insights into the game and to learn more, since we can all learn from each other. If you just can`t get enough of this game, it`s a great site to check out.
Next week, we`ll take a deeper look at maximizing drill effectiveness. Till then, play on...
